Good design is about developing a site that is customer and search engine friendly. Some "web designers" use an abundance of "Flash" graphics (a proprietary dynamic graphics medium from Adobe called Macromedia Flash) in order to give a robust graphical "appearance" to a website. Although we think "Flash" has a limited place in web design, in our experience it is heavily over utilized by many web designers. They use it for the sake of reducing design time and effort on their part, and giving the appearance of a grand dynamic graphic design to their clients. The unfortunate fact is, if a web designer is using Flash for site navigation and/or other key elements of a website, they have already built a huge roadblock in the usability of the website for some customers, and for ALL major search engines. NO, NO, NO!
